Question: Where do you live?
Answer: I live in the heart of New York City

Question: Where were you born?
Answer: I was born in Tbilisi, Georgia, which used to be a part of the USSR (Russia). I later lived in Italy and Israel before moving to the United States.

Question: What did you want to be when you grew up?
Answer: I was a jock in high school and was a star basketball player…not really a girly girl…much more of a tom boy… I thought I would be a gym teacher…ha. Who knew I would turn out to be a makeup artist and teacher. I suppose the necessity to cover up my sensitive and acne prone skin overtook the need for sports. Although I wish I was in better shape, I can at lease contour my face to look like I am. Oh, and at one point I wanted to be an airline stewardess/now its called attendant. But after spending all this time on planes, I commend those ladies…standing and walking around in heals while carrying liquids…good coordination skills. And finally, I will admit I wanted to be a cruise director…(cause I grew up watching a show called “The Love Boat”) it seemed like such a fun job to have while getting to cruise…
I gotta say, I’m really happy with what I do. And I still don’t know what I want to do when I grow up. But one of the good things about being a type “A” personality and having a bit of A.D.D. its made me into an over achieving multi-tasker, with lots of careers.

Question: How did you know the makeup artist industry is where you would make your mark?
Answer: I didn’t… I actually grew up in a hair salon, as my mother was a hair stylist. I went as far away from the beauty industry as possible. I actually went to school for business and even took companies public. Makeup artistry was an accidental field I faked my way into… When asked if I could do makeup, I responded “YES”…I mean how hard could it be? Not realizing this would be a makeup job for Al Pacino on a theatrical production of Salome’… well, I had one week to learn how to apply this theatrical makeup. I used to do theatrical makeup in high school…because I was in the high school plays and no else could do it. it came quite easily to me, but I really didn’t make anything of it. Well, after not getting fired and basically faking my way into that job with Al Pacino…it gave me confidence that gosh, I might want to get some training and take this a bit more seriously…since there are actual possibilities that go beyond working in a salon…not that there is anything wrong with that…Heck, I just opened up a beautiful salon…and love it.

Question: What do you love about working as a makeup artist?
Answer: I realize that I love affecting people in a positive way. I had no idea that the power of makeup is so amazing. I love that each day that I can make people feel good about themselves…and this goes for men as well as women. This field is creative, ever-changing and filled with new challenges. After I enhance the way someone looks on the outside, I can feel the way they glow on the inside – I fee It’s a rewarding industry and I am so blessed to be a part of it.

Question: What about your work interests you the most?
Answer: I try to enhance a person’s day with the “Experience” of someone who can make them not only look good, but feel good getting there. And hopefully then they want to do the same. It might sound a bit silly, but as a makeup artist, you are in someone’s space. It’s like an intimate encounter without crossing over their personal space. I also enjoy all the incredible places around the world that I travel to. Who knew that makeup artistry can have you be a globetrotter? So I actually got to live out and do what I wanted when I was young…globetrotting around the world (basketball and airline hostess)…humm, who knew…. Meeting all the fabulous people I have come in contact with. You learn something different from each life that you encounter, whether they are visiting my boutique, I meet them at work or if they are right in my makeup chair. Every person and each day has been a gift and is always so interesting.

Question: What part of your work is the most challenging?
Answer: Finding balance and maintaining it…along with some sleep. My morning schedule begins at 3:30 am, then I start work every day at NBC’s today show at 5:00 am and travel all over the world and am on call at all times….thats the News business for you. But then I also have my EVE PEARL Makeup Studio and Boutique, freelance jobs, product developer, CEO of EVE PEARL cosmetics…where we do everything in house…maintaining a balance with family and a social life can be a bit of a challenge! You have to learn how to juggle and find time for yourself...and sleep is almost out of the equation…maybe 3-4 hours a day. I’m still working on that balance. I’ll keep you posted.

Question: What makes you a good makeup artist?
Answer: I think experience, passion and heart are what truly make up a great artist. You may have all the creative skills in the world but its that persistence, technique and 100% passion…Your work is an extension of what you are feeling…I’m happy to be a nurturer and give fully to every single person…whether is a celebrity or a student or a makeover…every single person gets the same treatment…the best I have to offer…consistently. Actually, that is the key…CONSISTENCY. Being good every day…

Question: What makes you stand out from the rest?
Answer: I’d like to hope that 5 Emmys help me stand out a little bit! Ha ha but seriously, I hope that I stand out for not only my hard work and dedication in the arts but for my connection with people. and being CONSISTENTLY GOOD. I always say I don’t need anyone to be great one day out of a week and then lousy the rest. I prefer having someone be good every day…every day. No matter what your day might be like, if you can be reliably good every day, show up on time, take pride in your work, be professional, do no harm, etc….and stick to that…you tooo will stand out.

Question: What's your most memorable moment/job as a makeup artist?
Answer: Winning my first Emmy award…it was on my birthday. I had my family there…I got to get up and make a speech and thank my mother…it was terrific!!

Question: Is there a celebrity you would love to work with and explain why?
Answer: I’m so pleased to say that I get to work with the best every day. I love working with Meredith Vieira…the co-host of the Today show. I’ve worked with her for over 12 years…its been the most amazing experience. In this time, I’ve also had the pleasure to work with just about every celebrity in the business. I love Kelly Ripa, who I’ve also worked with…these 2 ladies I find to be incredible professionals and I’m happy to have worked with the best in the business.

Question: What inspires you?
Answer: My family and friends are by far, my ultimate inspiration. I love challenges in things that have yet to be achieved, in building something new…in aspiring to do so much more than anyone would ever think possible. Having someone say “you cant do that”…is my best inspiration…because my response (even if its only in my head) is “JUST WATCH ME!!”

Question: What makeup artist do you admire?
Answer: I had always been a fan of Kevyn Aucoin, Ve Neil and Sam Fine. There are so many talented artists out there…I feel we can all learn from eachother…

Question: What advice would you give to aspiring makeup artist?
Answer: I would tell everyone to never stop moving – no matter what your goal is. You have to keep moving and going towards your goals and dreams. They are not going to just come to you. We cannot stop in a world that keeps moving, we must move with it to develop, grow and thrive. There is nothing you can not achieve…look at me, I’m an immigrant, who was married young, had a son, was a single parent. Went to business school, couldn’t finish it…raising a child alone. Without knowing how to write or spell, I wrote and had a book published. Without any training started applying makeup. Without having the “right look”, managed to get on TV…open a store, develop a product line and who knows what else it out there…

Question: Dare to be inspired.... elaborate the meaning behind of this.
Answer: In my opinion, I love this analogy…because it is the opposite of the fear that paralizes most people. it is the fear of making the wrong decision, the fear of trying something new, the fear of failing…. When you Dare to be inspired…you look fear straight in the eyes and DO IT anyway. Who cares if you make a wrong decision…at least you’ve made one. Who cares if you tried and failed at something…at least you tried and then you can try again and decide again and again. no one succeeds the first time every time…the most successful people out there fail more often then not…and so what!!! The successful people learn from their mistakes and try again and again…they dare to be inspired in order to aspire to succeed. No one said it would be easy…but nothing worthwhile ever is. So, dare to be inspired…and you will succeed.

As an innovator in High Definition Beauty™, Eve developed her exclusive luxury brand of multi-functional cosmetics called EVE PEARL®. Beauty inside and out begins with CosmeNutrients™, the fusion of cosmetics with nutrients. Until now, the EVE PEARL® line of products has been available to professionals thru the website, EvePearl.com. The famous Salmon Concealer™ has revolutionized the way we cover dark under eye circles. The shades and textures have a universal spectrum of color making EVE PEARL® the makeup solution for every complexion.

Throughout her career and over hundreds of speaking engagements on makeup, Eve learned a lot about the emotional connection woman have to it. She found that women are constantly demanding more of their makeup; seeking new solutions to look and feel good. That discovery led her down a path that few cosmetic companies have gone. She began looking into the health benefits of salmon –omega 3, antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents.

Eve’s latest development is the new Anti Aging Tinted Moisturizer, a first in the industry with the revolutionary ingredient-AstaREAL® (Astaxanthin).
