Historic Coral House build in 1922,
an American Landmark, South Beach Florida
Reference materials do not list an architect. Second owner of the home became a significant Miami Beach developer. Henry Levy was a movie theatre operator from the mid-west who bought the house in the mid - 1920s. Lev's efforts to develop business opportunities in southern Miami Beach were thwarted due to ant-Semitism of the day. he did however find great success in areas to our north. He is credited as the developer of Normandy Isle. His daughter is alive and lives in Miami.
This house in a vernacular style, made of local materials, was typical of south Florida in the early part of the 20th century. Although many vernacular buildings were built of wood, this example is faced with oolitic limestone.
